yes disputing items does count against your credit w the credit reporting agencies. As for applying for cards the credit reporting agencies see you as looking for available debt and each inquiry takes points off of your score.

Losing your credit card or billing disputes means nothing to your credit.
Being denied for a credit card really has no effect either except for a couple of points of your credit score simply because a creditor pulled your credit report.

what really effects your credit rating is defaults, where you have done the runner on a bill. most of what you said would not influence your credit rating.
