am i the only one who has ever bounced a check???
It's the first time that ever happened and i'm really embarrased about it......now i have to go to the bank to get a certified check and then give it to my landlord.....i'm really scared!! I'd just like to know i'm not the only that's had this happen =(
Please let me answer this question. I am sure it will relieve your mind. I was an employee of a bank for almost 35 years. I made a mistake in my addition in my checkbook and believe it or not I wrote a check which would not pay on my account. My bank offered first time overdraft at no charge which was good. BUT guess what? First time employees get a warning about over drawling our account. If it happens again, you are given a written warning. Third time it happens the employee gets FIRED. So yes the fees are very high, but a regular customer pays them and does NOT get fired. So believe me, my checkbook was checked and double checked from then on. I would have rather paid the fee than to have gotten fired. So believe me, you are not the only one to ever bounce a check and you will not be the last. Take an extra few minutes to check your balance. It is well worth the time.

Good advice from all responders.
You need to sharpen up on your financial awareness.
This stuff goes on your credit rating. Next time you need a loan or mortgage, it could come back to haunt you.
Never miss a credit card payment.
Never bounce a check.
Never miss a rent or mortgage payment.
When you get more financially secure, you can get a line of credit, which automatically covers any shortfall in your checking account.
Good luck

It happens to everyone. Don't worry about it. Apologize to your landlord and don't let it happen again (with the landlord anyway). And the fees will kill you, so try to keep it to a minimum for your own good.

You're not the only one, that's for sure. Isn't it funny how they charge you the most money just when you have the least money and need it the worst.

Hardly.
Don't make a habit of it. Those insuffienct funds fees that banks charge will kill you.
